Trip to Bronners

We went to Bronners and this year Jack really liked seeing everything.
He didn't seem to be intimidated by the big guy in the suit at all ... until
It came time to sit on his lap.

And then he lost it.

He did manage to put on a brave face for one picture. (:

Mommy went sledding too!

I posted the sledding picture yesterday when we were about to head out to pick up our car ... long story...anyway I thought I put a picture of Jack and I on the sled, but realised I didn't. So here are some pics of Jack and I. He sure loves sledding!

Jack's new Toy

Recently, Jack's been very taken with the computer chair. At least once a day, you'll find him pushing it around the house.

Usually it includes a trip to the family room, but sometimes he chooses to go through the kitchen and he really doesn't appreciate anything getting in his way.

Jack got something too!

I'm always dragging Jack to the thrift stores with me and he usually is quite a trooper. That's why I'm glad I found him this cool car at St. Vincent DePaul. I think he'll have a lot of fun with it (Too bad we're not likely to get more warm, summer-like fall days.) I think he'll like it next year too.

It's even fun to push!

And he really likes it if you pull him around the block in it ( he can't quite get his feet working right to control it yet.)

My neighbor is crazy!

Okay this isn't about Jack, but I just had to vent. Many of you know I have a neighbor I refer to as my "crazy neighbor." She's not really crazy, just annoying. (I did once have a truly crazy neighbor who lived across the street. He had a closed-head injury caused by a gunshot wound. He use to sit on his front porch badly playing his guitar or swearing at the top of his lungs while talking to his girlfriend on the phone.)

So yesterday, I was in the backyard and she was using her leaf blower and she came over to tell me ...(imagine the following in a voice crossed between Minnie Mouse and Roseanne Barr.)

"I just want you to know, I'm not try to blow these leaves into your yard. I'm trying really hard to blow them into the street. That tree," she says, pointing to a tree in our front yard, "has a lot of leaves and they end up in our yard. It's annoying. It makes more work for me."

I sorta gave her my usual, "Okay." While my interior voice was saying, "What do you want me to do, go catch the leaves before they fall ... And how can you tell which leaves are from our maple and which leaves are from the giant one in your yard ...How much work is it really with a leaf blower?"

Anyway, here's her effort:

Not sure she could have gotten more of the leaves in our yard, had she "tried." Also, of interest, that driveway isn't hers, it's the empty duplex behind her, so she basically had to blow the leave across the driveway into our yard. There are hardly any leaves in the street.

I probably wouldn't have even noticed except she said she was trying not to do it and we don't have a leaf blower. Actually, we don't event have a proper rake yet...

Today, she'll probably come over to say, "I hope you're not mad at me because I got some leaves in your yard." Let's hope I can keep my internal dialogue internal. (:

Even crazy people need kindness.

Wow, we've been busy!

Jack has been doing lots of stuff over the last month. We went to a friends B-day party at the Flint Children's museum and there was lots of fun stuff to do there.

And of course we went to Myrtle Beach in October. We had lots of fun there. One thing we did was take Jack putt-putt golfing. He's loving dinosaurs right now. (He can even say dinosaurs.) I'm not sure what he thought of golfing but he definitely liked the dinosaurs.

He even wanted to climb up and see some of them.

Our little Buckaroo!

Daddy took Jack trick or treating to a few houses, but he mainly sat on the front porch with me and helped me hand out candy. It was so much fun. I'm sure one day the novelty will wear off, but I really enjoyed handing out the candy...even to the teenagers!

Jack hits the beach

Jack was quite smitten with the beach. He loved being surrounded by sand. He loved chasing the seagulls, but he was crazy about getting a face full of the stuff when he tripped.

Yikes!

My tool bar is gone so I can't figure out how to put pictures up right now, hopefully this is only temporary.

Jack being Jack

When Jack has a balloon he becomes a little obsessed with it. The other day he would not even eat his dinner until we gave him his balloon. He doesn't understand that we're in charge and the scary thing is that we really aren't! Sometimes it's not the toy but the environment that is fun. You would have thought Jack had never seen this toy before when we ventured out on the sidewalk with it!

Our neighbor had has some tree limbs removed the other day and Jack was very excited to watch the whole process.

By excited I mean semi-possessed! Look at his face! He was crazy this day.

Trip to Grand Rapids

We recently went to the Mejier Gardens. It was a lot of fun! Jack was quite intrigued by the big pumpkins and started doing some kind of strang pumpkin dance. Also he saw the big horse and just took off after it.

Country Living Fair

Something tells me Jack is going to have a lot of fun picking out a pumpkin this year!
We had fun at the Country Living Fair (Sponsored by Country Living Magazine) in Columbus, Oh. I for one would love to go again sometime. I wish it would come to Michigan.
